UK Radon Awareness Week begins today, and propertECO are delighted to be running some very special discounts during the campaign to make it even easier for homeowners and employers to take action.
Now in its fifth year, the annual campaign to increase public knowledge of the second leading cause of lung cancer is being backed by TV & Radio property expert Martin Roberts. In an interview with the UK Radon Association, Martin said “Checking your house for Radon is a cheap and easy process and for the sake of yourself and your family you need to do it now.”
For one week only, propertECO are offering a pack of two radon detectors for just £25, a reduction of over 40% on standard price*. The pack includes two detectors so that a living room and bedroom can be tested, and the price includes all laboratory analysis and reporting. Research recently published by Public Health England (PHE) found that average indoor radon levels are rising due to the installation of energy-saving measures such as double glazing, loft and wall insulation.
The study found that the average radon level in homes where double glazing had been retrofitted was 67% higher than those without. Radon Awareness Week Ambassador Martin Roberts commented: “By installing double glazing or insulating our lofts we’re rightly doing our bit to help the environment, and our wallets, but people need to consider and counteract the knock-on effect it might have on our health.”
Our advice is always “to test is best”, as this is the only way to know what the radon level within an individual building is, however it is especially important to test if energy saving measures have been installed in the property.
If you have already tested for radon and are wondering how you can now reduce the concentration in your property, then propertECO also has a limited-time deal for you too. Book a radon mitigation design survey this week and this will be carried out completely FREE** by the end of November.
Our expert surveys include diagnostic profiling of radon levels throughout the building using a series of short (6 minutes) “grab samples” to highlight any areas of peak intrusion. This enables us to be more precise in the design of a mitigation system by, for example, revealing the optimum location for a radon sump.
Whether you’ve just found out about radon or are revisiting the issue, propertECO are here to help and with these special offers, can also save you money.
