propertECO are thrilled to have collected their second business awards win of the year, taking the title of Trades Startup of the Year at the Startups  Awards 2012

Startups Awards Winner 2012 - propertECOHaving been shortlisted for the Award in October, the finalists gathered at Kensington Roof Gardens on 7th December for the ceremony, which saw propertECO take home the trophy for best new company in the Trades category.

The panel of judges included Duncan Bannatyne OBE, Julie Meyer MBE, Luke Johnson; former winners Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company and Adam Baker of Blottr; journalists Kate Russell of BBC Click and James Hurley of The Daily Telegraph; as well as other entrepreneurs and business experts.

propertECO Managing Director, Martin Freeman, and Commercial Director, Rebecca Kench, were presented with their award by judge and fellow Bath businessman Robert Craven, who the Financial Times hail as the country’s “Entrepreneurship Guru”, and event host Adrienne Lawler, Business Journalist and Entrepreneur.

Rebecca says “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won a Startups award within 18 months of being in business. Knowing that a judging panel of that calibre has scrutinised hundreds

Comments from the judges included that “PropertECO stood out from the entrants in this category for its work in restoring old buildings and we were impressed it had reached profitability within year one and were confident it could deliver its revenue projections in the next fiscal year, growing into a successful, sustainable company.”

propertECO is very proud to now join a host of outstanding businesses that have been recognised at the awards over the last nine years, including The Cambridge Satchel Company, Glasses Direct and BeatThatQuote.com, which was sold to Google for £37.7m.

David Lester, founder of Startups.co.uk commented:  “Each year we unearth innovative new businesses representing the unique diversity the start-up community has to offer which show that, despite the recession, British innovation is still booming. This year was no exception.”

Other winners at this year’s Awards, which were sponsored by Natwest include Abcodia, a bio-tech company set to play a huge role in cancer screening, travel deals website secret-escapes.com and designer furniture retailer Made.com.

propertECO are delighted to have won national recognition for their achievements after winning the Innovative Start-up title at the Bath Business Awards in September.
